For me, the word wargaming conjures up a vision of thousands of minature figures re-enacting the Battle of Waterloo. Bit of a culture shock when I came across a blog devoted to Cavegirl Wargaming.
Shades of One Million Years BC.

STEAMPUNK
What did I tell you about the “Gaslight” wargame being Steampunk. How Steampunk can you get ?? Don’t you just love that road locomotive and those Ostrich mounted Lancers versus Velociraptor mounted Hussars.

“If it wasn’t for the quick thinking of brave bugler Jenkins, the whole expedition would have been slaughtered.”
Saturday week, Master Li and I went to a Wargames Convention. The previous trip off was to a Ploughing Match and last Sunday we went to the Ellenroad Steam Museum to eat our lunch next to an 1840’s Beam Engine gently rotating. So you see we get plenty of variety for instance  after we left the Wargames Convention we called at CCL to pick up some gear for the latest computer Master Li is building and then had lunch at Tong Garden Centre.
Why were we at the Wargames Convention ?? Well I had been  up in the loft to check up on the Christmas stuff and bring down the Christmas Wrapping paper left from last year. I found a mysterious box which I brought down. It proved to contain a large number of wargaming figures harking back to the time I was intending getting into wargaming. It did not get very far because it was during my Pub Signs period and I was busy travelling to remote parts of Yorkshire and Lancashire photographing Pub Signs, organising  the slides into coherant shows and presenting the shows to various groups, some of which even had me back several times.
I discovered there was a Wargaming Convention at Pudsey  and rang Master Li to see if he fancied going. ” Yes BUT I’M NOT GETTING INVOLVED”  was the reply. He has a number of projects on that are at a standstill due to pressure of work is the reason for that. While we were there I noticed a set of rules called “Gaslight” that appeared to be Victorian/Steampunky that I thought looked interesting and looked on the WWW to find out more. The vision of a red coated soldier surrounded by Velociraptors struck a chord. So a Steampunk wargame with Professor Challenger overtones. Love it.
