Pre Steampunk Goggles
When I was looking for a picture to put in another post I came across this taken in December 1955, the car is a Singer Le Mans based on the car which won the prestigeous Rudge Whitworth Cup in 1934. It belonged to my friend Pete. Note we are both equipped with flat cap and goggles as was the wear in a Sports Car then. The goggles are RAF Mk VIII goggles which you could get quite cheaply in War Surplus Stores. I had several pairs and a pair of quite rare Mk VII’s. Bet they cost a fortune now. I reckon the car is 1935 so it would only be 20 years old when the picture was taken. Note wire wheels with knock off hubs and stoneguard on petrol tank. Also traces of snow on ground. We were hard men in those days.
