An Interesting Item from the Archives of The Dreadnaught Corset Company’s  held at the Royston Vasey Corset Museum. When the Company introduced their new spring steel ‘Bones’ in their Flexi Corset range in 1902 they sponsored that  famous local  team of acrobats, The Fabulous  Dido Sisters to wear them while performing their act thereby showing how flexible and comfortable they were.

Note the trim waists of the girls even Naenia, who was a fine big girl.
The picture was taken on the occasion of their appearance at Windsor Castle in a Command Performance in front of King Edward VII who took a particular interest in the girls stays as he was a wearer of Dreadnaught Corsets himself.

The Committee of the Royston Vasey Corset Museum are pleased to announce that through the good offices of Mrs Maris Piper of Kinky Korsets in Holmfirth, they have been able to acquire a sample of this  ribbon corset from the Gaultier Autumn  2011 collection. Mrs Piper will personally model this for members of  ‘Friends of the Royston Vasey Corset Museum’ on January 31 st in aid of The Royston Vasey Home for Fallen Women. Tea and buns will be served by the Womens Institute.
