I was strolling through Luceplace’s pages when I came across this young lady admiring her new high heeled shoes. She looked rather refined so I clicked on the picture and found myself in this elegant and refined web page which is what I would expect from one of Luci’s links. As it says “La Princesse Endormie gathers photographs, illustrations, art, literature & such, aiming to conjure an escapist world.” Now you’ll be thinking what does a Royston Vaseyite know about Elegant and Refined, well I’ll have you know that once I’ve swapped my flat cap and moleskins for my Top Hat and spongebag trousers a Vaseyite can be as elegant and refined as anybody. A couple of years ago when they held Royal Ascot at York Racecourse, I was just chatting to The Queen when I heard a voice shout ” Hey, who’s yon woman wi’ Captain Cloggy” Before I could reprimand them a second voice who I swear was Piggy Smiths shouted ” Shut thi rattle, wazzak, yons `er Majesty” So you see refinement is no stranger to Royston Vasey, which is why, if you seek urbane sophistication, elegance and culture then seek out   at once a  Royston Vaseyite.   More La Princesse Endormie HERE.

When, as rarely happens, some lightly clad lady appears on my page I can rely on getting a verbal thrashing from Jude . If she lived nearer I am sure it would be a physical thrashing as I remember the words “horsewhipped through the streets of Royston Vasey” appearing in one heated reprimand The clientele of Miss Whiplash’s Massage Emporium would have been most envious as Jude has a strong right arm. (I nearly said she is a fine big girl which could mean a horsewhipping all over Yorkshire) Anyway, Europeans regard Australia as rather louche and uncouth, the land of tinnies and barbies. Jude has changed all that by allowing me to show you the elegant and refined side of Australian life as illustrated in this picture she sent me where these ladies have given their bodies over to demonstrate that Australia is truly at the forefront of artistic endeavour. James Tissot:-“The Thames” 1876 Wakefield Art Gallery, Wakefield, Yorkshire. Some nice detail in the background of this picture of old ‘wooden wall’ battleships and a Thames tug with side by side funnels, rather different from the society functions he frequently painted. Not often you get home grown Culture on Cloggo’s Bloggo, if there is any it usually a reblog from Tindink or Frenchtwist. They must be having an influence on me. zz

Looking for ship pics for kiribird2 I came across this, a Montague Dawson pic of the ‘Marco Polo’.Judging by the seas the skipper is pushing it a bit with studding sails set,tho the skysails are furled to take pressure off the top of the mast. Judging from the fact it is painted like a Royal Naval warship I would guess it is an East Indianman who carried guns to ward off pirates. They would have seen off the Ethiopian pirates the pansy UN is so afraid to deal with. Would have been a sight to behold. Click Pic for gallery. zz
